Mariam Sy Honored

Congratulations to Mariame Sy, Senior Lecturer in Wolof and Pulaar, who was recognized by the national African Studies Association at the recent annual meeting.  Mariam was awarded the coveted Outstanding Service Award for her relentless, creative and outstanding work advancing the study of African languages.  Mariame is the President of the African Language Teachers’ Association, which has flourished under her capable leadership.  The African Studies Association fully recognizes the centrality of the teaching and learning of African languages to the success of US-based scholarship, as well as the flourishing of cross-continental cooperation and dialogue.
