Khatchig Mouradian, Lecturer in Armenian Studies in MESAAS, and his team of collaborators have been awarded a 2025 Humanities and AI Virtual Institute (HAVI) grant from Schmidt Sciences.
Schmidt Sciences awarded $11 million this year to 23 interdisciplinary teams across multiple continents whose work brings artificial intelligence into meaningful dialogue with the humanities. These projects—spanning archaeology, art history, literature, linguistics, film studies, and beyond—are developing groundbreaking approaches that use AI to open new windows into human history, culture, language, and creativity.
The project, “Connectivity and Individuality in Textual Traditions: Reimagining Scalable and Evidence-Based Approaches for Inclusive and Transformative Humanities Computing,” will contribute to this effort by advancing new AI-driven methods rooted in humanistic inquiry.
