I’m a doctoral student in MESAAS and ICLS. My dissertation examines the reception of the fourth-century Sanskrit poet Kalidasa. Focusing on three readers of Kalidasa from different historical periods, I revisit the question of what relation a poem’s meaning has to the context of its production. My broader interests include the south Indian religious tradition of Srivaishnavism, the modern reception of Sanskrit literature, and romanticism.
