Sarah Hawas is a doctoral student whose work lies between postcolonial thought, the environmental humanities, the history and anthropology of infrastructure, and the political ecologies of the Middle East. Her dissertation research focuses on the historical making of electricity, economy and environment in Lebanon. She has anterior interests in (mis-)translations of political theology; genealogies of knowledge and education; Islamic political thought in translation; non-Western concepts of morality and the relationship between ontology and ethics; and the future of the university.
